UPGRADE YOUR HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS
The holidays can be such an exciting time. There are a lot of delicious treats to enjoy, gatherings to attend, and people to see. When it comes to visiting, however, sometimes you will be playing host. When playing host, you may want your home to give off the air of luxury. If that’s the case, check out these tips to upgrade your home!
BRIGHTEN UP A BENCH
Do you have an entryway in your home or some other mud room drop zone for shoes and jackets? You can make this area look more luxurious by adding a simple bench. To add a little more luxury to it and make it feel more cozy, try adding a blanket or throw to the bench along with a plush sheepskin. For more style, you can even add layers by folding each layer so it fits the bench.
GET CREATIVE WITH CORNERS
If there is a corner in your home that’s looking a little bare, perhaps its time you get creative! Fill those unused corners with lights or even use that as a holiday card display area. For an extra touch of holiday spirit, try adding a couple small trees and add lights or them. Not only do you fill the corner, but you also fill the home with the scent of fresh trees!
LIGHT UP YOUR LIGHT FIXTURES
Even your lights can be upgraded for the holidays. To make your home look more luxurious all year round, you could replace your fixtures with something newer, more modern. If the fixtures don’t need replaced, decorate them! Wrap overhead chandeliers and pendant lights with white holiday lights. You could even add a little color to the light fixture with some fake pine branches and maybe a colored ornament or two. For an additional hint of luxury, try adding decorations of similar color to the room.
GILD YOUR LIVING ROOM
Adding a splash of metallic sheen to your living room decor somewhere can give that room the hint of a more luxurious lifestyle. Metallic ornaments in a small dish or decorations you already have out can really make the difference. Add a little additional color by adding small, plain wreaths on your bookshelves, entertainment center, or mantle as well.
DECK OUT YOUR WINDOWS
Lights aren’t the only way to decorate your windows for the holidays. If you have an abundance of ornaments, you could hang them in the window using different lengths of ribbon or cord. Alternatively, if you want somewhere different to hang your wreath, the window is a great place to do so! It adds some green to the window, and sets you apart from the other homes who may be using lights!
